College Road Loop Scratch - Friday, April 2, 2021
The Bathurst Cycling Club has hosted 4 separate Graded Scratch races on a new course which started and finished in the Bathurst Bicycle Park over the weekend.
Local champion Will Hodges dominated the A Grade race breaking clear to win solo, top class rider Jeremy Ryan winning the sprint for second ahead of Mark Windsor and Jack Cannon.
David Reece attacked on the hills each lap and looked set to win B Grade when he and National level cyclist Ella Falzarano broke clear on the final lap. However the Peloton caught them in the closing stages and it was former A Grade champ Steve Bennett that counter attacked and got clear for an impressive win. Ella Falzarano was the top female rider on the day finishing second in front of Steven Scott and Ray Thorn, with David Reece an unlucky 5th ahead of Tony Shaw. Another former A Grade champ Bradley Rayner was the next to finish in front of Rod Esdaile and Scott James.
Bad luck for Darren Fenton on the first lap of the C Grade race breaking a chain. In the end it was Tim Roebuck that was too strong and took the win in C Grade ahead of the very promising Ebony Robinson. The very experienced Robert Stephen taking third ahead of Toireasa Gallagher; with Peter McKinnon next, ahead of Donna Scott and Michael Robinson.
New rider Josh Ryan had a great start with the club, winning his first race. Ryan defeated Kevin Bell and Cathy Adams with Peter Hickey and Rosemary Hastings rounding out the top 5 ahead of Robyn Partridge and Tracey Robinson
