Review of Carroll Scott Memorial Tri
Planning for Weekends Duathlon - Last local event for 2024/25 season – the Sulman Park Duathlon on the 8th March 2025 – will be the same format as the Duathlon that opened the season, (maybe a change to the Transition to allow a bit of a Fun Handicap system but more on that later). Note I had hoped to run a trial "test" event at Ben Chifley on Sunday 9th March 2025.. to get some profile at the site.. But think I will run out of time.

OTHER GENERAL BUSINESS
EV Charging Station: Regarding the EV Charging Station behind the Pool I am very surprised how quick this has happened. Still no details on the financial arrangements between the council and NRMA's private company & looby group Electric Highways... I have been In touch with council on its impact to local triathlon, and have been assured it will not be a problem as far as the Triathlon club closing Stanley Street. Of course, I am still concerned. See Photos
BRATS
Ie Bathurst Region Active Transport Strategy – Have Your Say
The Bathurst Council he's chasing feedback on their Region Active Transport Strategy (BRATS) via a map on the "Your Say" council Website. Much of the feedback is based around Stanley St and our clubhouse area so important we ensure our racecourses are not impacted. I have added some comments and keen for others to add info and importantly like the points that are favourable for the Triathlon Club
See --- https://yoursay.bathurst.nsw.gov.au/active-transport-strategy
AGM
Will have to set a date for the AGM and preso.. Guessing May – we do have a couple trophies to present so not sure if everyone would like to go out – or just have a meeting at the clubhouse – To be discussed.

General Business
1Final decisions on Event 2 before we ask for entries
2024 Annual D2F Cityfit All Female Triathlon “You Decide”
The “You Decide” format gives competitors options in each of the 3 legs –
300m Swim - is flippers, pull-buoys etc optional – YOU DECIDE
15km Cycle – has a selection between two courses – The Standard “Historic” 11mile track or a 30min ride on our lap course – YOU DECIDE
2.5km Run – is alongside the river on the paths where you can run and walk – YOU DECIDE
FINISH - finish time or position or neither ?? – Club Championship Points??
Entry -
Briefing -
Swim – Rolling Start - self-seeded timing mate 10m run to the pool – Normal Course 3 x Up & back laps – getting out at the southeastern steps
Cycle – Option 1 – Consisting of a Lap of the 11mile Track – This famous course has been used for racing in Bathurst for over 100years with records going back to the 1800s. If you can break the 35minutes in an event you can call yourself a cycle racer, while if you take it real seriously and break the 30min barrier you can claim a cycling Expert status.
Option 2 – Only got one of the kids bikes?, or nervous about the traffic?, maybe your just not confident about finishing the event - Well just use the Stanley Street loop option, were you ride for 30min (self-timed) at your own pace on a 500m circuit using Stanley St and William St. Take your time, have a chat and please feel free to use the club’s toilets to change into dry clothed before the cycle if you prefer.
NOTE Both courses will come out of the domain carpark over the timing mat – however the Option1 (11mile) will turn left and run up the footpath to the mount line closer to the round-about, (see Diagram). Meanwhile the Option2 (loop) will go straight out onto Stanley Street.
RUN – back out the domain carpark over the timing mat and this turn right down Stanley St then around William St and across the road at the western end of the William St Bike turn. Across the road to the paths and then do the normal run course - although turning short.

Bathurst Physio Male Short Course Triathlon “Staggered Start”
300m Swim / 15km Cycle / 2.5km Run
Novice Triathletes starting 7:50, Returning 7:55am & Experienced 8:00am.
Normal short course with the run going up Stanley St to the new Mount (& Dismount) lines. Also the run goes around the William St end of the cycle leg.

Event 1 2024/25 Bathurst Triathlon Season
GREAT RACING ON MT PANORAMA / WAHLUU
Presented by Bathurst Physiotherapy & Sports Injuries Centre and Dedicated To Fitness Cityfit Bathurst Capital Chemist Compounding Bathurst
It's always exciting for a local Bathurst Sports Club to get to race on Mt Panorama / Wahluu especially on a spectacular morning on a circuit that overlooks the city.
The Bathurst Wallaby’s Triathlon Club held a duathlon to open the 2024/25 season, given the club's recent success at the world championships.
There was plenty of action with the course consisting of three run legs separated by two bike rides, which made the transition a hive of activity.

In true Mt Panorama style national junior representative Angus Argent-Smith looked to be coasting to a comfortable win in the male long course event, when a puncture in the final cycle leg sent him into the pits for repairs, coming back into the race just in front of second placed Mark Windsor. The pair then racing together into the final run leg where Angus broke away from Windsor for overall honours. Rankin Springs visitor Richard Argent-Smith making the podium with his son after a might battle with outstanding rookie Riley Sewell, who put in an amazing performance riding a mountain ride in the event. Last year’s medallist from the local championships, Darren Fenton rounding out the top five.
FEMALE EVENT
Wonderful to have Fran Grady and Danielle Patterson in women’s long course event, the pair are both excellent endurance athletes, Danielle recently returning from the world titles in Townsville, while Fran has mostly been doing ultra running events, since returning from the legendary Hawaiian Ironman a couple of year back.
Danielle Patterson led the way in the first few legs before finished strongly to take round one of the 2024/25 Bathurst Tri Season. Newcomer Claire Newton took third in the event, Claire returning to the sport after a long break, having previously contested some major events in Victoria.
AGE CATEGORIES
Plenty of speed on in the Junior Category (15-19yrs) with Angus Argent-Smith defeating Riley Sewell, while initial results suggested the computer timing could not split Matt Press and Alex Krajcer in the Senior Category event (20-40yrs). Some excellent cycling in the Masters Category (40-60yrs) were Richard Argent-Smith defeated Darren Fenton and state medallist Gary Hamer, while Mark Windsor and Chris Grady battled out the Super Vets (60+ class.
SHORT COURSE
Fallon Weal was the winner of the Short Course after leading the women’s field outright in the first run. Jack English defeated Steven Vollebergh in the mens short course event, both men have plenty of experience in Triathlon and great to see them in the opening round of the 2024/25 Wallabies Tri Club Season.
JUNIORS
The Boomers race started very fast, in fact their Race Marshall couldn’t keep up with the impressive junior field in the first run.
Hannah’s continues her improvement taking out the event after a super bike ride.
Meanwhile Cal’s win in the boy’s boomers category came after he took the lead in the first run. Maxwell and Dexter taking second & third after a great battle, swapping positions a number of times during the event
While in the participation Joeys event, Percy and Digby put on a real show for the crowd. The pair came into transition at the end of the bike ride, then ignored race officials (and support crew) to charge back out of the Pitts on the cycles for another lap.

REVIEW AFTER ROUND 1 - Sulman Park Duathlon -
Firstly a big thank you for everyone's efforts at our first event for the 2024/25 season.
Heaps of positive feedback plenty asking for another duathlon at sulman park before the end of the season.
Due to the booking process this is unlikely unless we close the season with another one in March or April.

Now - URGENT BUSINESS AHEAD OF ROUND 2 (24/11/2024)
Now maybe the most urgent business at the moment is round two of the season - which was to be the junior skills day at the aquatic centre and a proposed Duathlon for the seniors.
The “Pillar of Bathurst Park”  Senior Duathlon is likely to require more permissions, so the senior event is under some doubt. Due to the clash with the Bathurst international car race Sulman Park is not available.
So with Bathurst Physio confirming their sponsorship this week the best option seems to be normal triathlon at Stanley St.
This coincided with a few of us discussing - It's going to be difficult to run the teams triathlon on the same day as  all-female tri..
SO WE ARE MOVING A MOTION That --
The dates to all remained the same – but a change to the events:-

24th November 2024 – The annual All Female Bathurst Triathlon, & Male Support Event
22nd December 2024 – D2F Cityfit Christmas, Teams Triathlon
26th January 2025 - Capital Chemist Australia Day Triathlon
16th February 2025 –Bathurst Physiotherapy & Sports Injuries Centre Carroll Scott Triathlon
PS - Possible Another Trial Event on the weekend of 1st- 2nd March 2025 -- could be possible.

I think there will be enough time to do this if we move fast – and Happy to discuss this here – but I will Move a Motion on the Executive Messager Site to make this change on Wednesday and hopefully announce it by the end of the week.

TO DO -
Hobo will need to add the date to Work Control
Kirsten & Katie – to send out the letters to the Stanley St Residents
And I will need to make a couple of changes to the Sanction Portal
Will discuss with Carly the names of these events as we attempt to secure further sponsorship.
Maybe Discuss with Anna/Kath & the crew the possibility of another event info session
Luke to continue to work on computer timing (considering 3G problems and Screen Freezing)

Other Issues
Sponsorship – Do need to confirm all season sponsors
Club Clothing – Club TShirts – will need to add to existing stock so all new members can be  given a club T Shirt.
Next Meeting -- Wed 13th November 2024 - 5:30pm Clubhouse
