2020 Bcc “Mary Robertson” Anzac Memorial Race:
Sadly the CoronaVirus has forced the postponement of this year’s Bathurst Cycling Club’s Anzac Trophy Race where the club not only races for a trophy (organised by Club president Terry Dunphy in 1995), but importantly honours those that served in the world wars.
These days the racing plays second fiddle to the Memorial on Anzac day, with the club now making a special effort to honour a person connected to the Bathurst Cycling Community that selflessly & gallantly battled for our freedom in the World Wars.

Obviously then, the postponement of the actual race will not stop the club celebrating the person selected on Anzac Day and we will continue to promote this special event on the Bcc Calendar. This is especially the case this year when a female has been announced as the war world 1 representative that the 2020 Bcc Anzac Memorial Trophy celebrates.

This year the Bathurst Club will honour World War1 Nurse “Mary Robertson” who served in the Territorial Force Nursing Service in Britain. In remembering Mary we also honour all women of the time, as they endured terrible hardships as they attempt to hold society and families together as they were torn apart by war.

More on Mary Robertson (and the other Bathurst Cycling Community honoured by the club on Anzac Day) shortly… but for now please take 13minutes to listen to a brief Podcast by the CNSW Heritage Commission on this special Bathurst event.

The Bcc memorial to Mary Phillips Robertson
Although in 2020 the Coronavirus has stopped cycling across the world, the Bathurst Cycling Club Memorial will still continue this Anzac Day with Mary Phillips Robertson of the Royal Army Medical Corps to be honoured. This Podcast will take the place of the memorial ceremony which normally takes place at the Bathurst Cycling Club House before the Anzac Race..
