A Real Well Known Bathurst Personality

The Bathurst Cycling Club has lost one of its most popular club members with the passing of David "Curls" Conroy.

Curls was more than a good rider with the club as in more recent times he was involved with the Junior Development and providing plenty of encouragement and mechanical advise.

Curls was certainly a good cyclist showing plenty on talent in the bigger NSW Handicaps as a young rider, in fact he was only 17years old when he finished in the major placings in the 1976 160km Nyngan-to-Dubbo.

His love of cycling was obvious when he got his sons Cruz and Harrison involved in the Bathurst Cycling Club, with both taking podium positions in Club Championships. An excellent handicap rider himself, the 2008 Remembrance Day Trophy Race was special day for Curls, with Cruz Conroy taking the win and Harrison also in the top 5 in the long running Bathurst event.

A good Cyclist and a real good bloke - Curls will be very sadly missed.
