2020 BCC “Renshaw's Pedal Project” Road Series

ROUND 1 - 2020 BCC “Renshaw's Pedal Project” Road Series- Individual Time Trial - 1st August 2020:
The 2020 BCC “Renshaw's Pedal Project” Road Series has started with a bang with a Quality Field racing the Individual Time Trial Round in 5 separate Grades. In 2020 Renshaw’s Pedal Project will sponsor the Bathurst Title which will be contested over 6 roads in the next 9 weeks.
The Round 1 Time Trial got a number of the region’s top riders back racing with around ten A grade riders in contention for outright honours on the day.

But it was the pre-race favourite Will Hodges that put in a sensational ride to smash the course record and take victory over 2018 Western Region Time Trial Champion Mark Windsor and former NSW Elite men’s Criterium Champion Craig Hutton. Rounding out the top five overall was local Triathlon Stars Nick North and Josh Stapley just ahead of Masters Time Trial State Champ Richard Hobson.

Hollee Simons was just as impressive not only defeating Toireasa Gallagher and Lucy MacMaster for Fastest Female on the day but also won B Grade and finished well inside the top 10 overall. Second in B Grade was David Reece with Steven Scott third in front of Stephen Jackson and Mark Simons.

Waiting on Official Results of C grade, but looked to be a win for Darren Fenton over Nicholas Barrett and Toireasa Gallagher - while D Grade was taken out by former World Champion women master cyclist Rosemary Hastings over her arch rival David Hyland with Ben Hamer taking third in front of Peter Hickey.

Tracey Robinson scored a clear win in E Grade ahead of Robyn Partridge and Kristy Crump.

Now that former Bathurst Professional cyclist Mark Renshaw has returned home to run his new business venture (Renshaw Pedal Project) with wife Kristina, they plan to give back to the sport were Mark’s career began by sponsoring the 2020 BCC Road Series.

The Road series will run over 6 rounds:

ROUND 2 - 2020 BCC “Renshaw's Pedal Project” Road Series- 2roads Graded Scratch Races - 8th August 2020:

With rain all around but at the Bathurst Bicycle Park the 2nd round of the Renshaw Pedal Project was held on the weekend with Will Hodges continuing his unbeaten run taking out the A Grade 30km Scratch Race.
Hodges attacked early and soled away to an impressive win, Tom Bolton winning the sprint for second defeating Craig Hutton Brad Rayner Jeremy Ryan & Mark Windsor.

Glen Carter was too fast for his opponents in B Grade in the final sprint, defeating David Reece and Tony Barlow who was having only his second race start of the year. Will Lesh and Steven Scott rounding out the top 5 ahead of orange youngster Patrick Crump

Dan Kirby is riding very strongly at the moment and won the C Grade event defeating Phil Stapleton Darren Fenton Rob Stephen and Lucy McMaster who was the second best performed female rider on the day behind Kalinda Robinson who was 7th in B Grade.

It is always a great battle between David Hyland and Rosemary Hastings in local events, this time Rosemary Hastings looked to have a winning lead in D Grade with less than a kilometre to go, however Dave recovered to finish strongly and take the win in D grade ahead of John Kitchen Ben Hamer and Peter Hickey.

Robyn Partridge finish strong to defeat Tracey Robinson and Kristy Crump in the E Grade event.

ROUND 3 - 2020 BCC “Renshaw's Pedal Project” Road Series- Hurt on Dirt
Raced on the tough Guestinthorpe Loop, the Hurt on Dirt Classic is regarded as one of the more prestigious cycling events on the local Bathurst Cycling Calendar. It’s a tough course which includes a number of dirt sections resulting in some great cycling action.

A Grade event won by Will Hodges defeating his Olivers Racing team mate Tom Bolton and talented young Orange rider Luke Tuckwell finishing 3rd. Jeremy Ryan never gave up and finished 4th with Craig Hutton 5th followed by Jack Cannon, Mark Windsor and Jack Been.

Cadel Lovett recorded  impressive solo victory in the 2020 B Grade “Renshaw Pedal Project” Hurt on Dirt.  Hollee Simons was the top placed female on the day in 2nd place with Will Lesh, Scott James and Ray Thorn making-up the top 5 ahead of Drew Tuckwell, Dave Reece, Tony Shaw, Drew Carter and Mark Simons finishing 10th ahead of Patrick Crump.

Nicholas Barrett was to powerful for his opponents in the final stages of the C Grade, he defeated Rob Stephen and Phil Stapleton who recovered from a fall to take 3rd. Toireasa Gallagher finishing 4th ahead of Darren Fenton, Ebony Robinson and Nev Krahe, with Peter Wilson, Cameron Crump and Michael Robinson rounding out the top 10.

David Hyland continued his winning run in D Grade “Renshaw Pedal Project” Hurt on Dirt. Hyland defeating Gary Theiss and Ben Hamer in the event with Rosemary Hastings finishing strongly to take 4th ahead of Peter Hickey and Marian Renshaw. The E Grade race going to Robyn Partridge ahead of Tracey Robinson.

ROUND 4 - 2020 BCC “Renshaw's Pedal Project” Road Series- Bathurst Road Championships – Vale Circuit
With the first Bathurst Cycling Championships held over 135yrs ago in 1885, the Club Championships are a prestigious affair with great fields lining up in 5 separate grades for today’s 2020 titles on the very historic Vale Road Circuit.

The A Grade field was particularly strong this year, but it was no surprise that Will Hodges was crowned the 2020 Bathurst Champion given he has dominated the 2020 season. Young Orange star Luke Tuckwell joined Hodges in the lead with Cowra’s Jeremey Ryan chasing hard after getting away from Craig Hutton who dropped back to the Stephen Dunstall and Mark Windsor group. On the last lap Will Hodges attacking to win solo with Tuckwell winning the sprint for 2nd with Jeremy Ryan. Hutton sprinting clear of Mark Windsor and Stephen Dunstall for 4th.
The B Grade Championship came down to a bunch sprint with Drew Carter time his run perfectly to take the win from Tony Barlow and Steve Bennett. Rod Lovett, David Reece rounded out the top 5 followed in by Cadel Lovett and Hollee Simons who was the champion female of 2020. Scott James, Brian Draper and Will Lesh rounded out the top 10 ahead of Patrick Crump and Steve Scott
Mick Foran outsprinted inform rider Nick Barrett and the promising Ebony Robinson in C Grade Bathurst road Championship. Rob Stephen continues to improve finishing 4th infront of Phil Stapleton, Darren Fenton and Peter Wilson. Tim Roebuck, Neville Krahe and Peter McKinnon rounding out the top 10 ahead of Bruce Hutton and Fran Walker.
Charlotte Lovett sprung a surprize in D Grade defeating David Hyland and club legend Rosemary Hastings. Fourth in the title going to Gary Theiss ahead of Peter Hickey, with Ben Hamer finishing 6th. Meanwhile Orange rider Kristy Crump won E Grade defeating Robyn Partridge and Tracey Robinson.

ROUND 5 - 2020 BCC “Renshaw's Pedal Project” Road Series - Rockley Loop
The penultimate round of 2020 Renshaw Pedal Project Bathurst Road Series was held this weekend (26th September 2020) with Bathurst Cyclng legend Mark Renshaw on hand to start the event.
With the seasons dominate rider Will Hodges not racing it was his Oliver's Racing team mate Tom Bolton that defeated Mark Windsor in A Grade on the tough Rockley Loop course. Will Lesh attacked early on Rockley Mount to setup a big win in B Grade over Dave Reece. Nic Barrett won C Grade defeating Phil Stapleton while Dave Hyland won D Grade from Rosey Hastings

Final Round “Renshaw's Pedal Project” Road Series
A Grade was won by Oliver’s Racing rider Will Hodges after he an Luke Tuckwell broke clear on Quarry Hill. Cowra Cyclist Jeremy Ryan chased the pair home for third followed in by Craig Hutton in front of Mark Windsor Jack Cannon and Sturt Renshaw.
Alexander Onus finishing powerfully to beat Hollee Simons in B Grade after the pair broke clear. Rod Lovett took third place in a scrappy sprint with Steve Bennett 4th in front of Brian Draper and Tony Barlow while the top 10 was rounded out by David Reece, Tony Shaw & Scott James in front of Drew Tuckwell.
Nicholas Barrett defeated Bryce Stacker in C Grade with Mick Foran finishing third in front of Toireasa Gallagher and Phil Stapleton.
Young D Grade Club Champion Charlotte Lovett took an impressive win in D Grade over David Hyland and Gary Theiss with Peter Hickey 4th in front of Rosemary Hastings. Meanwhile Robyn Partridge caught Kristy Crump right on the finish line to take the E Grade Race with Joanne Renshaw a few metres away in third.
