2021 Bathurst Australia Day Handicap:
Former Bathurst Champion Steve Bennett has bounced back to form winning the Bathurst Cycling Club’s Australian Day Handicap.  Bennett defeated strong Cootamundra rider Vanessa Bennett and promising junior Cadel Lovett for line honours after a strong performance by his four and a half minute bunch which also had David Reece, Tony Shaw and Drew Tuckwell in the top 10.
Fourth in the handicap event went to Jack Cannon who finished fast riding off 2min 45sec handicap, while Geoff Short (6:15) rounded out the top 10.
The Scratch Bunch which included a number of riders from the Avantias Pro Racing Team started very fast and in a desperate move to catch the leaders broke apart when Stephen Cuff made a bold bid to catch Steve Bennett in the final stages of the race.
