WANT TO BECOME A TRIATHLETE THIS SUMMER?Bit of General Info on the coming 2024/25 Tri Season - (Version 04/10/2024) We have received a number of inquiries about people wishing to try a triathlon this summer.
Our mission at the Bathurst Wallabies Triathlon club is to run events which allow a social and encouraging environment that will support anyone wishing to participate in their first triathlon.
While still working on getting this summer’s events sanctioned, once we get these race’s registered, an entry link will be advertised on the club’s Facebook page. So, keep an eye out for that entry link if you are planning to do a triathlon this season.
Our next club meeting is on the 16th Oct 2024 so entry links should be available on, or before, the 18th Oct 2024.
THE ENTRY LINK WILL ALSO FEATURE THE DETAILS OF THE EVENT.
Both senior and junior events are offered, with the senior triathletes generally getting underway at 8am, before the juniors start around 9.30am. (however NOTE, the Juniors will race first on Australia Day allowing visitors more time to travel to the championship Senior Race that day).
SENIOR Distances
Distances are achievable yet still challenging, with the general Senior format consisting of a 300 metre swim, a 15 kilometre cycle and a 2.5 kilometre run. (Please Note the Australia Day event uses a more challenging Grand Prix Format).
JUNIOR Categories
More news on the non-competitive Junior Racing in a separate post however our junior racing splits the kids into Joeys and Boomer Categories, which firstly consider the child’s confidence in the water ahead of the age. Generally, the Joey’s are around 5yrs to 10years old, with a 25m or 50m swim option, while the boomers are 11-14years with a 100m & 150m swim.
More about these categories and also the Cycle and Run details in a separate post, but clearly the objective of our Junior Racing is participation.
This year we are planning to introduce the Juniors to the new Triathlon Season with a Skill & Fun Day at the Pool Complex on Sunday 24th November 2024, we recommend this event for all kids in the lead up to the first full triathlon event on the 22nd December 2024 – which will be the very popular D2F Cityfit Christmas Triathlon. Don’t miss this one!
UPDATES19th October 2024Anna’s first local Triathlon Information Session and Bathurst Wallabies Triathlon Clubs 2024/25 summer season launch will be tomorrow morning (19th October 2024) at the Stanley Street Clubhouse.
EVERYONE'S WELCOME --- There will be information on the coming season for new and returning triathletes
We also encourage our club officials and existing triathletes to come to the session to share your experience.
The session will mainly consist of general chat, however there will be a formal introduction of the officials attending and a 10-minute interview with one of Bathurst’s premier endurance athletes, Kath Stutsel.
We plan to have people at the clubhouse after parkrun for a chat, with a brief intro on the coming season & officials at 9:00am. Kath’s talk will be straight after followed by more general chat about local triathlons after 9:15am. Look forward to catching up with everyone.
PS – for anyone riding to Parkrun a club official will be at the Stanley Street Clubhouse between 7:30 and 7:50.
Event 1 (2024/25 season) by Bathurst Wallabies Triathlon Club (Official)Sulman Park, Mt Panorama. BathurstDetailsTriathlon as a sport in Bathurst was built on Duathlons, with the first event hosted by the Bathurst Triathlon Club a Duathlon alongside the Macquarie River / Wambool back in 2006. While arguably the biggest Triathlon event promoted in Bathurst was the Bathurst Biathlon series back in the early 1990s.
Obviously then, we are planning to celebrate the Wallabies 20year anniversary in 2026 with a Duathlon. For a number of years, we hoped to run a Duathlon on top of the amazing Mt Panorama / Wahluu at Sulman Park. So it is exciting and fitting to finally get Duathlon back on the Bathurst Wallabies Tri Club Calendar.
While it is a pilot event for the 2026 Anniversary Event don’t miss the opportunity to be a part of this Historic Event.
There will be Sprint (1km/7.5km/1km/7.5km/1km), Enticer (1km/7.5km/1km) and Junior events on the day.
Avoiding a clash with Parkrun, Senior Briefing will be 9:00am followed by the event - The Junior Briefing expected to start 10:15am. Normally we race Sundays but we don't want to clash with the Panorama Punish.
Entry to the course with be via the McPhillamy Park Gates.
