2020 BCC Christmas Hamper Race
This weekend’s Bathurst Cycling Club’s Christmas Hamper Race is traditionally the final race of the year for the Road Season. Although the original intention for this event was that it be more a social event, in the past it has become a very difficult race to win, with the clubs overseas based riders returning home for Christmas and racing the event keen to win a hamper.
Talented juniors Luke Tuckwell and Deren Perry took first and second in A Grade after aggressive rides, NSW masters Champ Mark Windsor finishing 3rd in front of Jack Cannon. Parramatta rider, Perry is Tuckwell’s madison partner, with the pair combining in 2019 to win the NSW junior Championship.
A very good field lined up in B Grade, with another talented junior Cadel Lovett winning from former Bathurst A Grade Champion Steve Bennett and the winner of the 2020 B grade Road Series David Reece
Former Bathurst Champ, Robert Stephen bounced back to form to defeat Toireasa Gallagher for the Hamper in C Grade, Peter Wilson riding an excellent race to finish 3rd in front of Rod Esdaile who attacked a number of times in the race.
D grade was an excellent race with the field only splitting up in the final stages went Charlotte Lovett attacked, Peter Hickey and David Hyland chasing her to the finish line to take second and third in front of Kevin Bell and Cathy Adams. Robyn Partridge winning the E Grade Hamper Event.
